It’s been quite a night in Minnesota for TNT Sports announcer Kevin Harlan and it isn’t over yet.
Harlan was honored during the game for being the original voice of the Minnesota Timberwolves as part of the franchise’s 35th-anniversary celebration this season. Harlan called the first nine seasons of T-Wolves basketball, starting in 1989.
Then, Harlan received the honor of calling Jamal Murray’s buzzer-beater from beyond half-court to close out the first half as the Denver Nuggets extended their lead over Minnesota to 15.
As a bonus, Murray then came over by Harlan and they had a little bit of a face-to-face moment while the play-by-play man finished his call (Murray seems to be looking slightly to the side of the announcer, but it still works).
We have to imagine that the visual of Harlan yelling in Murray’s direction as the Nuggets star celebrates his big shot is well on its way to becoming a meme already.
When TNT showed a replay of the shot and moment between Murray and Harlan, broadcasting partner Reggie Miller chimed in, “I see you, Kev!”
We’ve still got a half of basketball left to play, who knows what magical moments lie ahead for Harlan and NBA audiences.
