One week after hosting his final episode of The Athletic Football Show, Nate Tice has a new home.
On Monday, Yahoo Sports announced that Tice is joining its outlet on a full-time basis. The former UCF and Wisconsin quarterback has been with Yahoo since the start of the 2023 NFL season, but will now provide increased written coverage to the outlet, while continuing to appear on its slate of Yahoo Sports NFL shows.
A rising star in the NFL media sphere, Tice is the son of former Minnesota Vikings head coach Mike Tice. After spending time in the Atlanta Falcons and Oakland Raiders’ front offices, he provided written content for Bleacher Report and The Athletic before being hired by Yahoo as a contributing writer last September.
In recent years, Tice has gained a sizable following thanks to his unique perspective as a former NFL scout and the son of a former NFL head coach. In addition to co-hosting The Athletic Football Show with Robert Mays since 2020, he has become known for his weekly column, “The Overhang,” which takes an in-depth look at key matchups and players from an analytical perspective (and also offers prop bets) throughout the NFL season.
In joining Yahoo full-time, “The Overhang” figures to become more prominent and it will be interesting to see what Tice adds to an already impressive output of written content. It will also be notable to see if he maintains a regular podcast presence — either on a new show or a preexisting one — considering the popularity of the one he co-hosted with Mays.
